Introduction & History:
The Water and Power Development Authority was established in 1958 to manage and develop Pakistan’s water and power resources. It has played a vital role in building major dams, hydropower stations, and irrigation systems that support agriculture and energy needs across the country.
Over the decades, WAPDA has contributed significantly to national development by ensuring water storage, flood control, and electricity generation. From a civilian perspective, it stands as one of Pakistan’s most important public sector organizations, offering stable employment while contributing directly to the country’s infrastructure and economic growth.
