About the rank grades: The grade for each rank follows the standard police structure used across Pakistan. The Constable, Head Constable and ASI grades of 7, 9 and 11 for Islamabad Police date back to an upgrade package approved by the Interior and Finance ministries in 2016, when they were raised from 5, 7 and 9. Other allowances commonly listed for police personnel include medical, uniform, risk or law-and-order related payments. Websites publish very different amounts for these, and I could not verify them against an official Islamabad Police or Finance Division document. Treat any single “total salary” figure you see online with caution.
What Is the Actual Take-Home Salary?
The honest answer is that it depends on your rank, increment stage, posting and which allowances apply. Websites currently publish estimates for a starting Islamabad Police Constable that range from roughly Rs 27,000 to Rs 70,000 per month. That gap is too large to be reliable, and most of these sites do not show how they calculated it.
What you can safely say from official documents: a newly appointed Constable starts at Rs 19,590 basic pay, and with the 7% ad hoc relief the figure is about Rs 20,961 before house rent, medical, conveyance and other allowances. Your actual salary slip will show the final amount.
Increments and Promotions
Increments: One annual increment is added to basic pay every 1 December, subject to existing conditions. For a Constable, the increment under BPS-2026 is Rs 1,100 per year, and pay can grow up to Rs 52,590 within the grade.
Promotions: Promotion in police is generally based on seniority, service record, departmental exams and training courses. In October 2024 the Interior Minister mentioned that overdue promotions of 400 Islamabad Police officials had been carried out. Specific promotion timelines depend on vacancies and departmental rules.

- Pension: Federal government employees are covered by pension rules after retirement. The Finance Division’s memorandum states that the 7% ad hoc relief is not counted when calculating pension or gratuity.
